Seven Stitches
AL Champs 1998 Donnie Baseball, 1994, photo not by me
I was lucky enough to get Yankee tickets for Game 6 of the 1998 ALCS against the Indians. That was the pennant clincher for New York, and one helluva game. On right, Don Mattingly, my childhood hero, positions himself for a 3-6-3 double play. Born on April 20, 1961 in Evansville, Indiana, Donnie set the major league record for career fielding by a position player with a .99599 percentage from 1982-94.

My favorite baseball stats:
World Series Titles from 1903-1924: Red Sox 5, Yankees 0.
World Series Titles from 1924-2000: Red Sox 0, Yankees 26.

Eight is enough!
The Yanks have had some of the best ball players in their storied history. Above, Bernie Williams in his rookie season, Orlando Hernandez makes his major league debut after David Cone has his right hand bitten by a dog, and the nasty lefty reliever, Steve Howe, straight off his eighth suspension from ML baseball for drugs.
